SPRINGFIELD -- You would think the governor's mansion would be in tip-top shape, but it's not. There's a leaky roof and a flooded basement. Representatives with the governor's mansion are blaming Mother Nature.

Thunderstorms over the weekend caused serious flooding inside causing damage to more than a dozen pieces of furniture. The spokesperson says none of the furniture had any monetary value, but residents say it's an eyesore seeing the mansion in its current condition.

During the winter, the roof sustained extensive damage which led to the problem. The spokesperson wouldn't go on camera but did say, "A commercial firm, Peerless, was hired to perform clean-up work. We are looking into whether emergency repairs can be done."
