It was just about the best deal for gas anywhere in the country. For two hours, drivers paid only $3.19 a gallon. That's about 35-cents cheaper than the national average, and close to 65-cents less than someone in Illinois is probably paying.
People lined up around the station to wait their turn. Drivers say they did a double-take when they saw the signs. They weren't about to pass up a chance to fill up so cheaply.
Drivers say a discount like this is exciting, especially during the summer months, when so many hit the road for summer vacations. People came from all over Champaign County.
It was part of Super Pantry's Grand Reopening. The store was just remodeled earlier this spring. They also got free food, car washes and even pet baths!
