GIBSON CITY -- Fundraising efforts are ramping up for a new pool in town. So far, about $179,000 has been raised, but the city needs $1 million. To get closer to that figure, the chair for the Build Gibson Pool Foundation took a grant proposal to Springfield Monday.

Committee members hope they'll be able to reach their goal soon. The current pool was built in 1921. They want to tear it down and build a new one with six swimming lanes, a concession stand, diving boards and slides.
