CHAMPAIGN -- One group wants to stop the dumping of chemical waste at the Clinton Landfill which is over the Mahomet Aquifer. Champaign County residents met Sunday to talk about Taking Action.

The group says more than 90-percent of drinking water for Champaign-Urbana comes from the Mahomet Aquifer. They want Governor Quinn to take away the landfill's permit to accept chemical waste.

They say it's time for citizens to step up. The group urged those who showed up to sign petitions and boycott Area Disposal. Area Disposal says it takes all necessary precautions to protect groundwater.
