CHAMPAIGN -- Parkland students are selling gag gifts to raise money for veterans. It's the first time the Student Veterans Association has put on an April Fool's fundraiser.

They sold giant glasses, inflatable pencils and whoopee cushions, among other things, for "K-9's for Warriors." The association's president says there is usually not much going on this time of year, so they thought this would be a good opportunity to serve.

Some tricks were only 50-cents, but the president says every little bit helps. Many people donated money even if they didn't want to buy anything. Organizers say they plan to do it again next year.
