History museum's doors open once more

CHAMPAIGN -- The Champaign County History Museum opened its doors for the first time in almost two years.

The revamped museum has been in the works since 2015.

If you've driven by it, you probably know it as the "Cattle Bank." It's the oldest commercial building in the county.

It has several exhibits showing how the county looked during different points in history.

"We are telling the story of Champaign County's history. Of course we only have room for four exhibits here in the museum to start with, and so it's telling small pieces of it. From the University of Illinois student life, to World War II, to the artifacts that we have on display," said history museum president T.J. Blakeman.

The museum will be open Thursdays through Sundays.
