DANVILLE -- One Hometown Hero uses her spare time to help those who've served. She's part of the Angel Wings Volunteers. It's a group helping veterans at the VA hospital.

Ashley Borror leaves Monday to go into the military, but she isn't a veteran yet. Borror plans on enlisting in the Air Force, but is already acting like a hero.

Just days before she departs, she's here at the VA hospital baking cookies for veterans. When she's not doing that, she just sits with them to keep these heroes company.

Borror has been doing this since November and says it's nice to make others feel good. She says she kind of always knew she would be joining the military. Her dad is retired from the Air Force and she's familiar with the life.

Believe it or not, she was actually nervous to volunteer. She thought she may not know what to say or do, but everybody there loves having her around, especially if she has cookies!
