CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. - CHAMPAIGN COUNTY -- Three people and two organizations in Champaign-Urbana are being recognized for their humanitarian work.
One is DoMinique Arnold. She just started as a librarian at Uni High, but she's also part of a group called Four Walls and a Roof. They worked with people in Ecuador and helped establish a woman's shelter there. She says she's proud to work together as a global community.
"It's just such a vibrant community in CU, so I really want to acknowledge that and acknowledge that it's not just a solo effort going on over here," said Arnold. "I'm so happy to be involved in a vibrant, lovely community."
The other recipients include Mi Raza Community Center, which provides services for the Latino community, and Walking with Angels, which is a group helping people in Africa. The individual awards go to Omar Al-Heeti, Leanna Cossman and Arnold.
