MATTOON, Ill. (WCIA) -- Hundreds of fish have turned up dead.
It happened at Lake Paradise which is southwest of Mattoon.
Fish can be seen floating in the water.
People who fish at the lake say, when the lake rises fish float over the spillway of the dam.
Others say the lack of rain may be the cause of the problem.
With no rain, the fish aren't getting enough oxygen.
"It's kind of a concern because i come here and fish a lot and they're all dead now," says Kevin Everhart.
Everhart says carp and catfish are still alive and he's reached out to the Natural Resource Conservation.
There's still no word from officials on why the fish are dead.
