More than 2,000 roads and 500 bridges will be repaired. The upgrades won't just benefit drivers, but also the unemployed. IDOT says all the construction will help create more than 100,000 jobs. A rep says the improvements will help strengthen the transportation system.
Funding for the projects will come from state and local dollars. The six year plan is still considered a proposal and some details could change.
