NATIONAL -- Illinois' lawmakers are on the fence about the situation in Syria. Three of Illinois' 18 House members say they're in favor of military intervention or leaning that way. Three are opposed. The others are either undecided or have not expressed an opinion publicly.

In the Senate, Mark Kirk (R) backs limited involvement. Dick Durbin (D) says he needs to see "precise" language in the authorization resolution.

Wednesday afternoon, Congress took the first step toward supporting the President's call for military action. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee passed a key resolution. Committee members want to assure Americans of one thing; the bill also limits any intervention to 90-days.
