SPRINGFIELD -- Each day during the State Fair, one person is chosen to be the Illinoisan of the Day. He or she gets special gifts, a guided tour of the fair and a day named in their honor.

Friday's honoree is from the area. He's lived in Lovington his whole life. He's reportedly a guy who knows everyone. He volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, the Moultrie County Food Pantry and gives flights to hundreds of area kids, plus the list goes on.

That's why it's John Durbin Day. More than half of this year's Illinoisans of the Day are from Central Illinois.
