CHAMPAIGN-- Teachers in Champaign voted Wednesday  to authorize a strike, but the school district says they're confident it won't come to that.
Board of Education President, Laurie Bonnett says they've been negotiating since May 15th.
On Wednesday, 500 teachers voted on the strike authorization, and 97% of them said yes to doing it if they cant' reach an agreement with the school district.
Bonnett calls their talks progressive and says they came to an agreement on six items during their last session.
She says there are still three items to tackle.
Teachers say the sticking points in their contract are raises, salaries, and working conditions.

Bonnett sat down with WCIA 3's Cynthia Bruno on Thursday's morning show to talk more about the potential strike and ongoing negotiations.
