MATTOON -- Police say they had a successful St. Patrick's weekend, cracking down on drunk drivers. Officers say they issued 45 tickets between Friday and Monday. Thirteen were given to people not wearing seat belts. Just one was for DUI.

The department brought in three extra officers to help the usual patrol staff. Authorities say they hope drivers take notice when they see them on the roads.

Captain Eric Finley says he's seen an interesting trend lately. DUI's are doing down, but seat belt violations are on the rise. Officers say they plan to be out with extra force during holidays this year.
