ILLINOIS -- The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) followed through on its plan to ask for more state funding. Thursday, ISBE officially asked for $1 billion more than it got last year. Schools want the extra money to make up for budget cuts. Adding it would put them on par with what the state law requires.
