SAVOY -- For the second time, this Korean War veteran returned home from overseas. Samuel McPheeters came home Tuesday after going back to South Korea, 60 years after serving there as a Marine.

For the past week, he got to relive that time in his life. The Monticello native went to Seoul and visited various war sites across the country. During his return, the former Marine spoke about what it was like to be back in South Korea.

"It was just amazing. I can't express it all, how grateful we were. And how grateful the Korean people, the Korean people are very grateful for what we did for them. They went from a tore up country to what they are now."

McPheeters also showed off his medals and gifts given to him during his time there. His trip was sponsored by a Korean church in Michigan. It was a way to celebrate the anniversary of the Korean War.
