The company announced its moving its global headquarters and about 75 jobs from Decatur to Chicago. Lawmakers were considering giving the company tax breaks to keep it in Illinois.
ADM had been shopping other cities, but decided on Illinois even without that tax break.
Good Jobs First, a Washington based watchdog group says it appears ADM was bluffing about its need for tax breaks. The director says Illinois should be mindful when other companies come knocking.
ADM was asking for 26 million dollars in breaks over 20 years. The senate passed the bill but the house never voted on it.
