Leaders approve sales tax hike

URBANA -- The city will use taxpayer money to help shore up its budget. Six of seven council members approved a quarter cent sales tax hike Monday night.

It bumps it up from 8.75% to 9%. The increase is expected to bring in more than $340,000 to the city. It goes into effect January 1, 2014.
