Bank robbery suspect identified

Update: 6:30 pm, 9/13/17, Wednesday 

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) -- Police say 38-year old Derek Watson is the primary suspect in Tuesday's robbery of Regions Bank.

A suspect walked into the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. He fled, eastbound on foot, with an undisclosed amount.

Police say Watson was developed as the primary suspect after multiple interviews with witnesses. An arrest warrant was issued for Watson for aggravated battery with bond at $750,000.

Anyone with information regarding Watson's whereabouts is urged to call police. Tipsters are always 100% completely anonymous.

All tips submitted to Crime Stoppers are electronically stripped of any personally identifying information and processed by a third-party answering service, not law enforcement.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) -- Police hope someone will recognize this bank robbery suspect. He walked into Regions Bank, in the 100-block of South State Street, about 3:10 pm, Tuesday.

The suspect gave the teller a note demanding money and fled with an undisclosed amount. A weapon was implied, but not shown and no one was hurt.

The suspect is described as a man, white, thin build, early 30's, 5'5", 180 lbs. He was wearing blue jeans and a white shirt with a graphic design on the front.
