CHAMPAIGN -- The debate over the future of the Champaign Public Library and its financial woes continues. Board members are looking at long-term answers to try to balance the budget; so far, without any success.

Last month, the Champaign City Council passed a $273,000 bailout for the fiscal year, but that runs out in June 2015. It's the second straight year the council has come through with cash. The library has already reduced staff and has proposed cutting hours, but no plan has yet been proposed.
