SPRINGFIELD -- A shortage in front line DCFS staff is impacting child abuse investigations on the local level. The Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday that DCFS has hired more supervisors even as the agency was forced to layoff caseworkers and other front line staff because of budget cuts.

The Sangamon County Child Advocacy Center is feeling the impact of the staff shortage at DCFS. The agency uses DCFS investigators to help deal with local cases.

But, the director says some of those investigators have been temporarily reassigned around the state to fill other vacancies. He says it isn't much of an impact, but it helps to have local investigators working on local cases.
