URBANA - Some local celebrities are helping kids with special needs enjoy America's past time.

Tonight was celebrity night for the AMBUCS Challenger League. The league gives kids of all abilities the chance to play ball.

People like our very own Cynthia Schweigert and U of I Athletic Director Mike Thomas joined in on today's game in Urbana. They helped kids run the bases and encouraged them. Thomas says it's not about winning, just having fun.

"It's great to be out here spending time with the kids," he said. "They have passion and love for each other. Just getting out here to play a game of baseball is a lot of fun."

The league has been around for fourteen years.  All kids who sign up are guaranteed to play.
