A Champaign staple is getting closer to expanding. Three houses were getting torn down on Tuesday. That space will be used for a parking lot for the new Papa Del's location on Neil Street. There will be 165 spots there and upwards of 500 people will be able to eat at the new building. The owner says they're about two months behind schedule, but he's getting excited for the grand opening in a few more months.

"The first floor is going to be seating for about 210, 220," said Robert "Pops" Monti, who is the owner. "Then there's a horseshoe bar that seats about 30 and we're putting a new pizza kitchen in there."

Monti says they plan to have their new location ready to go by January or February. Then he says they'll also close the location at the Crossing.
