Man arrested after neighbor finds dead dog

MACON COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) -- A 23-year old man faces charges of cruelty to animals.

The man was arrested Wednesday after authorities responded to a home in the 600-block of South Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, in Decatur, for a report of a dead dog in a doghouse.

An investigation determined the frozen, female pitbull had died about two weeks earlier, due to hypothermia.

Authorities say the dog's owner moved the doghouse, from his home on South Jackson Street, to the property on South MLK in an attempt to dispose of it.
