CHAMPAIGN -- An Urbana man faces murder charges for the September stabbing death of a former girlfriend. 33-year old Darmel Smith was arrested Wednesday morning in the 200-block of South Mattis on a warrant for murder with intent to kill or injure.

Police say he's responsible for the death of Sheena Williams who was found September 6 at a home in the 100-block of Roper Street. Authorities say she was found dead with stab wounds which did not appear to be self-inflicted.

Smith is being held on $2 million. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Crime Stoppers. You can remain anonymous and may earn a cash reward.
