CHAMPAIGN -- A firefighter is being honored for his work during the past year. Chris Hanson has been working for the Champaign Fire Department for about 16 years. He's a fire apparatus engineer.

Hanson was one of eight firefighters nominated for this year's honor. His coworkers picked him to get the top prize, but he said everything he does is a team effort.

Hanson also volunteers with the Honor Guard when he's off duty. He said he plans to keep fighting fires for at least a few more years. Hanson will be officially recognized at a ceremony Monday.
