CHAMPAIGN-URBANA -- Changes to state pension plans could send some UI professors packing. At a meeting Friday, officials said thousands of faculty and staff across the campus could retire by the end of June.

It's due to a glitch in the state's new pension law which would reduce monthly benefits if they choose to stay. It could reduce the workforce by 10%. About 5,700 employees are eligible for retirement and about 65% of them could be affected.
