CHAMPAIGN -- Unit 4 District leaders are bringing in a negotiator to help with a teachers' contract. The previous one already expired, but the superintendent says they'll honor those contracts until a new deal is reached.

Leaders say talks with the Champaign Federation of Teachers has been going well so far. The next step is to agree on a mediator and set dates to talk. They want to do that within the next few weeks.

The superintendent says there's no set deadline for that, but he hopes to do it as soon as possible. School starts Monday.
