CHAMPAIGN-URBANA -- More people in Champaign and Urbana rode the bus Wednesday than ever before. CUMTD saw more than 71,000 people take a ride.

It's not a dramatic increase from what they've been seeing, but still the most ever. CUMTD leaders say they're not sure what's responsible for the increase but many factors are involved.

CUMTD did have more buses out this week. When Champaign and Urbana schools were out of session, they used buses which usually transport students to absorb demand from elsewhere in the cities.
