Cindy Roberts was on her way home when she got a call from her son.
"I said, 'John what's going on?' He said, 'Mom, Jamie's been shot.' I said, 'No, not Jamie.'"
Jamie Sternberger was shot and killed inside her home. Family found her body around 9 pm Sunday.
"I can't believe Jamie's gone. She was always there for anybody and everybody," says Roberts.
Neighbors say she lived here for more than 10 years, and took pride in raising her two boys.
"I'm worried about the boys. It's very hard to lose a parent. There's a hole in your heart that can never be replaced; never be filled."
Roberts isn't going through this alone. Her boyfriend, Travis Jennings, is by her side.
He says, "It's been one unexpected event after the other."
A few days ago he lost his stepfather in the shooting, at Dynachem, in Westville.
"It's not something you ever expect to happen within three days of each other. It's hard to bear."
Both Roberts and Jennings shed a lot of tears in the last couple days, but they will lean on each other.
