SPRINGFIELD -- The Illinois State Museum could be getting a new name. It's all in a way to honor the late Senator Alan Dixon. He was born in Belleville and was elected as one of the youngest legislators to ever serve in the Illinois House of Representatives. He died last month.

Governor Quinn initiated the change. He's working with the Illinois General Assembly to pass a joint resolution making the designation official. The Illinois State Museum is located in the 500-block of South Spring Street. Upon passage of the resolution, it will be named the Alan J. Dixon Building of the Illinois State Museum.
