SPRINGFIELD - Sixty Illinois National Guard soldiers returned from Afghanistan Friday.

The troops were on a special mission helping Afghan farmers expand their agriculture industry.

They helped upgrade irrigation systems on more than 10,000 acres of farmland.  They also trained farmers to use modern farming techniques.

The soldiers returned to a welcome home ceremony at Camp Lincoln in Springfield.
