URBANA -- Bikers now have a new way to lower their ticket fines. The city is offering a new bike education course. It starts next month.

The course is similar to what motorists can take if they get a traffic ticket. Usually bikers get fined $100.00 for disobeying the law but they can now lower that to $30.00 if they take the two-hour bike course.

It'll go over rules of the road, how to share it between bikes and cars and how to avoid accidents. City officials hope to partner up with the UI and Champaign police to provide this program on campus as well. So far about twenty people have signed up.

The classes are:
May 2, 3 - 5 pm
May 29, 5 - 7 pm

Classes are held at the Urbana City Building, 400 South Vine.
