New facility will help AARP members

UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS - UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS -- UI's Research Park has a new partnership with AARP. The grand opening of The Tech Nest shows a new initiative to come up with technology to help AARP members.

Students have already started conducting research and developing prototypes. Their mission is clear.

"Helping to disrupt aging by creating new technologies and innovations with the help of students and collaborations with the university. We'll think about how, as aging Americans, we might incorporate technology in our lives," said Laura Frerichs, director of the UI Research Park.

There are eight students employed at The Tech Nest. Some of the technologies they're working on include devices to help with hearing and vision changes.
