URBANA -- If you've been itching to start planting this spring, a group of engineers has made a gadget you may want to get. The group includes some graduates from the University of Illinois. They've put together a prototype for the Pria Light. The LEDs shine light upwards to brighten a room and down to help plants grow. One of the product's creators says this isn't your usual ugly planting light.

"With this one, you're bringing out the fact that you're growing plants and you're proud of it," said Mercedes Mane, who is an electrical engineer for the project. "It's a fixture and it's a furniture piece and it's not something you hide away from people."

The entire thing is magnetic, so it's easy to put together or switch out the LED you want to use. This is the first house brand item for The Product Manufactory in Urbana. People there started a Kickstarter campaign to get going.
