UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS -- New research done on campus could help treat cancer patients. Scientists have been studying a molecule which can sometimes trigger certain cancers. It also makes people resistant to treatment.

But, researchers at UI may have found a way around the problem. They found another molecule to turn off the bad one.

The next step is to test it in clinical trials which can sometimes take decades. Good news is, the new molecule is already found in some cancer treatment drugs which are already being tested.
