It’s not too hard to find a good deal if you're doing some last minute shopping. Stores are offering thirty, forty, even fifty percent off.
Randee Fleming made her way to Marketplace Mall to get her shopping done. “I did a couple things online, but I started today.” Randee Fleming is not alone. The national retail federation says about 32 million people haven’t even started Christmas shopping. With six fewer days in December the extra money can be hard to come by.
Fleming says “I been working a lot trying to raise the money to go shopping so I been picking up a lot of hours at work.” This is the second busiest shopping day for retailers next to Black Friday.
Tim Minard’s a store manager at Trade Home, a shoe store inside the mall. He says “it’s been pretty hectic we've pretty much hired a lot more staff before Black Friday to get everybody trained up and ready. Normally we would have about two people throughout the day now we have about five or six people.”
Stores are open even longer; giving shoppers like Randee Fleming get ahead. “I try to get here early, but not early enough, it’s hard to walk around with the big bags. Fleming has a few more things to buy on her list, but she’s learned a very important lesson.
