DANVILLE -- Officials have enacted a No Burn Order for the city. It's in reaction to the unusual weather patterns in the area. It's effective beginning at sunrise, June 28, and continues until further notice.

Public safety officials say underlying areas of grass are dry and susceptible to quick ignition allowing fires to get out of control. City leaders are also considering upcoming fireworks displays for which permits have already been issued.

Anyone intending to have a recreational fire must contact fire officials and provide their name, address and hours they intend to have a recreational fire. They must also follow safety rules having some type of equipment on hand like a water hose, pails of water or a shovel.

Anyone grilling is also asked to take precautions when firing up charcoal or gas by inspecting the grill, its components and gas or propane supply.

To report having a recreational fire:
Fire Station 3
(217) 431 - 2358
Provide, name, address & hours of fire
