NWS recognizes Parkland for weather safety

CHAMPAIGN -- Parkland College is being recognized for keeping kids safe. Wednesday night, the National Weather Service will declare the facility a "Storm-ready College." Parkland will be the eleventh college or university in Illinois with the distinction.

The award is given to counties, communities or schools in recognition of active planning and training to be ready for weather-related emergencies. The presentation will be held during the Board of Trustees meeting.
