Area grad crowned Miss Illinois

VERMILION COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) -- An Oakwood High School grad is the new Miss Illinois. 20-year old Abby Foster was crowned Saturday night.

The Danville-native is a Ball State student and a Colts cheerleader. She's been Miss Vermilion County Fair and Miss Illinois State Fair. Saturday night, she competed as Miss East Central Illinois. Foster's friends and past pageant directors say the crown's a perfect fit.

"Watching Abby win last night was awesome. I mean, I've seen her win several times, but last night was just a whole different level."

"She's so deserving because she is one of those young girls, she just cant be stopped. Whatever she puts her mind to, she achieves her goals."

In addition to the crown, Foster won $10,000 in scholarships and the chance to become Miss America. She'll compete for that title this September in Atlantic City.
