CHAMPAIGN -- Officers are being recognized for tracking down a suspect in a bank robbery last month. Investigators say a man held up the Central Illinois Bank on Springfield Avenue July 31. Several officers, METCAD dispatchers and others found him within eight minutes of the robbery.

Police say fighting crime is always a team effort. Investigators searched around the bank and found the suspect's car. A witness saw him running through the neighborhood. The suspect was found in a backyard on Hill Street. No one was hurt.
