New rules for "Unofficial St. Pat's Day" at UI are an attempt to keep things under control. Champaign Mayor Don Gerard says he's adamant about underage drinking. He put limits on keg and other beer sales.
This year's celebration begins on the evening of March 2. Every year, hundreds of people converge on campus to  celebrate. "Unofficial" was created in 1996 by bar owner, Scott Cochrane. He intended to drum up sales before students left campus for spring break, which often included the official holiday.
