One county won't prosecute concealed-carry

SPRINGFIELD -- Some gun advocates aren't happy the state's pushing back the deadline for concealed-carry. It has one county leader throwing out the rule book.

The Madison County State's Attorney, which covers the East St. Louis area, says, from now on, you can carry a loaded gun on his turf. He says he won't prosecute anyone for it because in his eyes, it's already legal.

But, the governor has not signed concealed-carry into law yet, and he has until July 9 to do so. If the governor doesn't meet the deadline, anyone with a valid FOID card will automatically get to carry a loaded firearm anywhere in the state.
