OSF offering conditional insurance benefit match

CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) -- OSF says it will benefit some patients while insurance contracts are being negotiated. Agreements are still in the works for HealthLink and Blue Cross. In the meantime, the company says it will pay the difference for patients insured by those providers who had ongoing treatment plans in place before OSF took over on Feb. 1.

Take someone who gets regular chemotherapy for example. If that chemotherapy patient has Blue Cross or HealthLink, OSF says they'll give that person an in-network rate while the insurance contracts are being negotiated.

But people who aren't getting ongoing treatments won't be as lucky. Many Blue Cross and HealthLink clients who live in Danville say they'll drive to Carle in Champaign for treatment before they'll pay for out-of-network treatment at OSF in Danville. They say they hope the company reaches an agreement soon.
