HOOPESTON -- This Our Town restaurant has been serving customers for more than 70 years. Shirley Harper took over Henning's Root Beer Stand in 1990, but she continues the traditions which have been around since the beginning. WCIA-3's Erica Quednau learns what it takes to work there.

The family owned business is known for every meal and of course...

"The root beer. The root beer is excellent. If you haven't tried, you got to try it. People come and get it by the gallons," said Henning's employee Amanda Gaffney.

"Well, we make our own root beer which is very popular so they come for that," said owner Shirley Harper.

People also come back for the friendly, hometown atmosphere.

"About the same people are here everyday so you know, it's just like coming home," said returning customer Robert Reece.

"We are a very homey place. We try to take care of our customers. We know most of our customers that come every day," said Harper.

Henning's is also known for its outdoor ordering system. People can pull up to speakers, place their orders and have their food brought out to their cars.
