TEUTOPOLIS -- Our Town is celebrating 175 years of history. But, even when it's not the town's terquasquicentennial, you can visit its past each week. This is the Monastery Museum. Years ago, the space was used as a noviciate; a place for people to study, pray and decide if they would become priests.

Now, it holds artifacts from that time. Half the museum is used to tell the story of Franciscan history; the other half, pioneer history. The museum is also home to this mausoleum. It's the only one of its kind in the Midwest. A priest was the first buried there in 1865.
