CHAMPAIGN -- A new program will keep suspended students from missing school. The school board approved removing out-of-school suspensions.

Instead, those students will participate in "TALP," or Temporary Alternative Learning Placement. They'll go to school and get emotional and social support to address their behaviors.

Tutors will also keep them from falling behind on school work. The program starts next fall.
