Pair arrested for involvement in heroin-induced death

COLES COUNTY -- An area many says he's not guilty after police say he was involved with a drug-related death. Investigators say Damien Brooks was there when Jeremy Reeley died from a heroin overdose on Christmas Eve. Police didn't release any other details of how Brooks was involved.

Caleb Tomas was also officially charged in connection with the death. He's currently in the Douglas County Jail facing charges for an aggravated DUI which killed someone else.

COLES COUNTY -- Two men are accused of being involved with a drug-induced death. Mattoon police say Damian Brooks and Caleb Tomas are connected to the death of Jeremy Reeley.

Authorities say Reeley died after a heroin overdose on Christmas Eve last year. Coles County state's attorney Brian Bower said he couldn't go into details, but says they were both there at the time of Reeley's death.

Both men are already behind bars. Tomas is in Douglas County jail facing charges of aggravated DUI that caused death. Brooks is in Coles County jail for a pretrial violation involving a firearm. They could face up to 30 years in jail for Reeley's death.
