CHAMPAIGN -- Future filmmakers got to see their imaginations in action. The Pens to Lens gala was held Saturday. Kids from kindergarten to 12th grade got to watch their screenplays go from paper to the big screen.

Twenty screenplays were picked from 150 submissions and the ones selected were made into films. Lucy Moss, a participant in the competition, believes she has a future in screenwriting and said that the process was "overwhelming."

The Champaign-Urbana Film Society sponsors the event which is in its second year.
