DANVILLE -- The Danville Dashers may not play in Georgetown, but it didn't stop nearly 15% of the city from turning out to show support for the team Sunday night. WCIA-3's photojournalist Jeff Samson shows why this small town has such big support for its adopted team.

"They sold over 450 tickets at City Hall."

"It's excellent! The crowd, I did not expect to be this big."

"This is our closest hockey team, so you know it's our hometown team."

"It was my first game, ever."

"I try to get to every game to begin with, so to get more people from Georgetown involved, I'm just excited about it."

"We wanted to do something to unite Georgetown, and this did."

"Bringing the community together gives them something to do. You know, and introduce themselves to the city leaders that are here and, you know, just bring everybody out for a day of fun."

"Maybe next year we can do it again."

This was the first year for the community event.
